As well as offering exciting adventure ideas from Luang Prabang, we now offer a variety of fun options from the beautiful village of Nong Khiaw.

OPTION 1

Day trip to weaving village, Muang Ngoi and water fall 

We start our day at 8:30am with a boat trip up the beautiful Nam Ou River to Sopjaem village, nestled up against a perfect limestone mountain backdrop. It is well-known for weaving with many families having weaving looms at the front of their houses. The village has one street running through the centre of it, making for an easy and very interesting walk. Then come down to stop at Muang Ngoi. Afterward we visit Ban Sop Kong village. Walk to Tad Mok waterfall (about 1 hour) where you can refresh yourself or shower in the middle of the jungle. We have a local picnic lunch here. On the way back we stop at Yensabai organic farm. Then cruise downstream to Nongkhiew village before sunset. 

Along the way back watch the peaceful river teaming with life with local fishing, kids running on the sand and buffalos sunbathing or swimming on the river. 

OPTION 2

Day trip to Muang Gnoi 

The trip start at 8:30am with a boat trip up the beautiful Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoi Viewpoint and cave. It’s a 20-minute climb up to the viewpoint. This gives a magnificent view of Muang Ngoi and Num Ou River. We also stroll through the quaint village of Muang Ngoi, the second most visited village next to Nong Khiew. 

After Muang Ngoi, we will visit Tad Mok Waterfall. After an hour hike through the rice field and farm, you can cool off in the refreshing pool of this waterfall. Here we will break and enjoi the picnic lunch beside the Waterfall. Tad Mok has water year round so you will always get a chance to swim in the pool. 

After the waterfall we will visit the Yensabai organic farm. This project is the first of its kind here, and attracts many foreign volunteers.

Finish the day admiring the beautiful sunset as you kayak down the Nam Ou River to our final destination of Nong Khiaw. 

Picnic lunch and bottle water is included in the price. You will only need to bring trekking sandals, hat, sun scream, swim suit, and mosquito repellent. 

OPTION 3

3-day jungle trek and Boat trip to Muang Ngoi (cave and view point) and kayaking 

Day 1: The trip will start at 8:30am. A tuk-tuk will bring you to the rice field 10km from Nong Khiew. We So trek through a rice farm for about 2 hours to Naluang village. We have lunch in this village. Then we continue trekking into the jungle for about 4-5 hours to Houyhoi village. Here we enjoy a cooking class with local people, have dinner, then relax. We overnight at a homestay in this village. 

Day 2: After breakfast we say goodbye to adorable village kids and head up to Muang Ngoi village, hiking up to a viewpoint and cave. We then walk to Nakang village (weaving village). It is well-known for weaving with many families having weaving looms at the front of their houses. We spend a night at a homestay there. 

Day 3: After breakfast we walk back to Muang Ngoi Village, then downstream by boat (30 minutes) to stop at Sop Kong village. We then walk for about 1 hour to Mok waterfall and have local picnic lunch there. On the way back from the waterfall we stop for a break at Yensabai organic farm. After that we go downstream by boat back to Nong Khiew. But the last 30 minutes of this will be in Kayaks. Yes we let you experience this beautiful river from a kayak. Up close you will see the peaceful river teaming with life with local fishing, kids running on the sand and buffalos sunbathing or swimming on the river. We arrive in Nongkhiew before sunset time. 

OPTION 4

2-day boat trip to Sopjam 

Day 1: The trip will start at 8:30 am, go up with the boat to Sopkong village, and visit Tad Mok Waterfall. After a 1-hour hike through the rice field and farm you can cool off in the refreshing pool of this waterfall. Here we will break and enjoi the picnic lunch beside the Waterfall. Tad Mok has water year round so you will always get a chance to swim in the pool. Then head up by boat for 20 minutes to Muang Ngoi. A 30-minute hike will take us to a viewpoint and cave. Afterwards we go up by boat again to Sopjaem village, nestled up against a perfect limestone mountain backdrop. It is well-known for weaving with many families having weaving looms at the front of their houses. 

Day2: After breakfast we trek through the jungle for 4-5 hours. Then get on the boat downstream the Num Ou River. Finish the day admiring the beautiful sunset as you kayak down the Nam Ou River to our final destination of Nong Khiaw.
